I was listening to KATU AM morning show, today local in Portland, Oregon. They spotlight Oregon business owners, or life coaches and various topics. Today, one of the segments was on depression, and they had a Clinical Psychologist speaking. He mentioned that often patients are diagnosed in the primary care office, and he said that patients should often not be seen primarily by the Family Practice Doctor or Nurse Practitioner, but instead be referred to a mental health specialist or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I think that is great, and no one blinked about the word Nurse Practitioner, it was as if they heard it all the time. I think people do know about us more than we think, but sometimes it is easier to say "doctor" just like people say take Tylenol rather than take Aceteminophen..it is just easier. Anyway, it was good to hear. Carla, Oregon
