I have used liquid nitrogen on persisting lesions of the abdomen at Mom's
request, but each spot (I think we chose 3-4 to treat) left a little scar.
It is my preference to let them go away on their own, but I finally sent her
to a dermatologist and he used liquid nitrogen also. I know they can persist
longer than 6-9 months as we were well into our second year on this kiddo.

Subject: [NPInfo] Mollescum Treatment Options....
Has anyone on the listserv used any of these agents/treatments in kids with
Mollescum or do most just leave them alone?
A pediatrician suggested Retin-A...sounds expensive...I've chosen to tell
parents it is self-limiting over 6-9 months...Meg FNP (Portland OR)
* Curettage - Scraping the lesion off with or without anesthetic
* Cryosurgery - Using liquid nitrogen to freeze the lesion
* Cantharidin - A blistering agent applied sparingly to each lesion
* Imiquimod (Aldara) - An immune system modulating topical cream that is
also used to treat warts
* Tretinoin (Retin-A) - The same cream used for acne applied to the
lesion for weeks to months
* Salicylic Acid (Compound W) - A solution applied to the lesion with or
without tape occlusion
.
