In Hattiesburg MS hospital they require that the doctor sign after the PA or NP and will not take the order from them.  In the outpatient setting we sign all alone as long as we are from an approved institution.

Hi Winifred,
The "software" does allow for NP prescribers.
They must have the "OK" from the insitution that
is using the software (therfore a specific Authentication ID)
and the scripts go to the pharmacy with the Practitioners Name
and ID. Just like the MD's. SureScript is hold about 90% of the
contracts with most of the pharmacies across the US for Electronic
Prescribing.  They are "Certified"  and recognized
by Health and Human Services as a quality company that provides  for safety and "interoperability" for e-prescribing.Hope this helps.
