Almost 5,000 RNs are expected to participate in a 2 day walk-out in 15 San
Francisco Bay hospitals Oct 10 & 11, primarily affecting hospitals
affiliated with Sutter Health (my previous employer). Their issues include
employee and retiree health benefits, staffing issues (not sure how this can
be an issue-we have state mandated staffing rations), and service cuts. One
hospital reports that the union has turned down their offer of a contract
that would give RNs an average salary of $142,000 a year at the end of the 4
yr contract. Geez-I don't know of any NPs that make that much here!!! I know
I made no where close to that when I worked for this organization. When I
grow up, I may just want to be a wealthy staff nurse..
