[NPInfo]: Alumni responsibility & skills education in NP programs

I was a clinical preceptor for a student in the ANP program for St. Louis University online last year. I never heard from the University until after the rotation was done and I had sent in the evaluation form the student gave me. I had no objectives from the university. I have no idea if the rotation met the class goals. I want to promote our profession, but I will never be a preceptor for this university again.

I

Hello all,

I agree with Nancy and I believe the student has to be engaged in their
education. The have to promote their needs.
There seems to be issues in students obtaining preceptors and this is the
schools obligation. If the MS program can not arrange for decent preceptors then
there needs to be less students admitted to the programs.
Many times the preceptors are abused.
I have been a preceptor and never had the university make any contact with
me.
Thanks,
Margie
n a message dated 4/3/2008 11:00:56 A.M.
