See the trick for UAW is that they are self-insured. That means that they are only administrated by BCBS through contract but that they collect the premiums and determine the benefits (who they will pay and what services for which they will pay). There are many different BCBS companies and each of those companies has several different products. The Anthem BCBS/UAW is just one of the products that BCBS Anthem administrates or offers.

I'm on the BC/BS Regence insurance panel as a provider here in Oregon..one
would think this goes for all NPs across the country? guess not....it seems they
are arbitarily closing off NPs in certain regions? is this what I'm hearing
from those on the listserv...unless BC/BS are independent from one another (and
even if they are)...one could certainly make a case with the Insurance Board in
their respective States that NPs are paid and are credentialled for BC/BS in
Oregon and in many other States....this would be one way to get the Insurance
Commission in those States that stop NPs from being paid by BC/BS members...and
get NPs included? this is just not right....just my thoughts.
