Thanks Sue this site bring back memories, I graduated from University of Southern Ms and during the summer we had a internet conference with Dr Watson. It was nice to read about how she got her start and how she came up with her ideas. I myself use Betty Neuman as a basis. Looking at the client as a Whole from mental to medical to spiritual to aura of a person. Then throw in alot of listening with a caring attitude brings comfort and understanding to the client and of the client (My thought of the day).

At University of Phoenix we switched from Orem to using Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring as a basis for our BSN & MSN nursing classes last year. My training to teach the theory classes was the first I'd heard of this theorist, but her theory seems more modern and applicable to current nursing. In some ways, takes us back to the days of F. Nightengale & her caring ways. Check out her theory; Jean teaches at the University of Colorado
