If your son-in-law has transferable skills, I would recommend that he look for another job.? If he able to find one where he can "renew" his insurance coverage limits.? It is a drastic solution, but it will provide the family with additional coverage.? Before the move, ascertain the period the family would have before he would be a permanent employee and the new coverage would be established.
I agree that the cap should be lifted to at least $5 mil.? There are a lot of procedures, options for healthy lives which make a lot of people bump up on the coverage ceilings.
