I am seeing this inventory popping up all over the place, including an integrative MD I spoke with recently. It may be useful tool for NPs/PAs in our practices.

The Wellness Inventory is an online assessment and life-balancing tool that focuses on the whole person in 12 key dimensions of wellness. By participating in the training you will gain proficiency in working with clients with the 12 part Wellness Wheel (representing the Wellness Energy System).
You will also experience ongoing exploration of the Wheel as a dynamic hologram of interdependent elements, as well as its use as an organizing principle for individual and institutional wellness programs.
The process of working with the Wellness Wheel helps to develop greater coherence in your personal life and teaches you how to use this whole person process in your coaching to facilitate greater coherence in your clients' lives.
You will also focus on increasing your knowledge and proficiency utilizing the key elements of the Wellness Inventory on both the client (user) side and administrative side of the program.
On the client side, you will gain greater insight into the key elements of the program:
the assessment questions,
the Wellness and Satisfaction Scores,
Personal Wellness Plan,
My Wellness Journal,
Self-Study Center,
the 12 Resource Centers, and
the test comparison feature.
We will focus on the process of creating the wellness action plan in the context of the Six Stages of Change, which leads to a much higher rate of success. You will learn how to strategically use your coaching skills to maximize the effectiveness of the Wellness Inventory in helping your clients achieve their goals.
BACKGROUND OF THE WELLNESS INVENTORY - TEACHING PEOPLE TO BE WELL
The Wellness Inventory is based on the pioneering work of John W. Travis, MD, MPH, recognized
as a founder of the wellness movement. Dr. Travis opened the first wellness center in the US in 1975 in Mill Valley, CA and created the Wellness Inventory (the first wellness assessment) for use at the center. Dr. Travis authored the classic Wellness Workbook (Celestial Arts, 2004, 3rd Ed) which has been used by
wellness and health promotion educators in universities for over 25 years.
On the administrative/coaching side, you will receive in-depth training in the suite of wellness program management tools. These tools facilitate coaching, reporting and communicating with clients to support implementing the Wellness Inventory within individual, group and organizational settings in order to achieve optimal results.
>From a business/marketing perspective, you will learn strategies for using the Wellness Inventory to:
Create a wellness dimension in your practice,
Quickly determine client's "change readiness" in each dimension of wellness,
Create the context for ongoing wellness coaching,
Build your practice and increase client retention,
Create new profit centers, and
Work with individuals, groups and organizations
You will also learn strategies for using the Wellness Inventory as an organizing principle for wellness programs that can be implemented in various markets - corporate wellness, wellness centers and clinics, hospitals, spas, as well as coaching and wellness practitioner practices. This will include learning how to integrate monthly workshops on the 12 dimensions of wellness into an institutional program (corporate, healthcare, spa) to provide education and accountability, to support the coaching process, and to foster a positive outcome for participants.
The course will provide additional interaction throughout the 12 weeks via an online discussion board.
WEEKEND INTENSIVE FORMAT
As an option to the teleclass, the training is also offered in a 3-day weekend intensive format (includes a teleclass one week prior to training and one week following training). The next intensive training is September 26-28, 2008 in Asheville, North Carolina.

"The Wellness Inventory class is phenomenal. It is a great course for every health care provider, because it allows for deep exploration into your own aspects of wellness, so that you have more to offer clients. The course is a terrific organizational framework for wellness. As a nurse and traditional naturopathic student, I thought I knew a lot about wellness coming into the course. "Did you happen to see the movie 'As Good as it Gets' with Jack Nicholson? I remember a quote from the film when Nicholson's character says to the woman he'd fallen in love with 'You make me want to be a better man'. Something similar rings in my ears this evening, in the sense that both of you have spirits that inspire me to grow into something bigger, some larger aspect of myself. Thank you both for that! This is a deeply important class and I am really thankful."
