[NPInfo] pharmacist and injections

Wikipeida is an encyclopedia so is a reliable source for definitions and
general information. The information on it should not be used for research
or scholarly literature review. But I don't think that's what's being done
here. With your reasoning, anytime ANYONE sells a product or service for
profit, they're guilty of the kickback. Which means that if you're hungry
and go to McDonald's, and they a sell you a hamburger and make a profit,
they're guilty! Or you take your car into the dealership for repair and they
say it needs a $5000 new engine but, since you don't want to do invest a ton
of money into an old car, they turn around and sell you a new car instead
and make a big profit (sorry, it's only been two weeks and I miss my 2000
Mustang convertible terribly-- the pain is still very fresh!!). Is THAT a
Stark law violation?? I didn't HAVE to buy a new car and I certainly didn't
need to buy it from them-- I had a choice.

Hey, D-- where are you when we NEED an attorney??? Please help Margie with
this Stark law and kickback stuff!

JUST fyi Wikepedia is not a source to use.
I know everyone wants to do these to prevent flu , I guess to hell with the

laws.
Sorry this is a violation of the stark law. It self referral , where the
pharmacists are making a BONUS from the amount of shots they give.
AGAIN WIKEPEDIA is not a reputable source. I hope you all are not using
that on papers.

Not to mention, in reality, influenza vaccines aren't typically a
profitable
service; the pharmacy isn't in this for major profit. In my area, we
pretty
much just cover our costs. We provide them as it is in the best interest
of
our patients. With nearly 40,000 people dying in this country annually
due
influenza-related complications (perhaps the statistic has changed as I
haven't looked it up in a couple of years), the bottom line is making sure
as
many higher risk people have access to the vaccine as possible.
