Check with your local library. Mine (Orange County, California) has free 3-week downloads of lots of titles. Does NOT work with Ipods because of licensing restrictions, but it still leaves lots of choices. My little Zen has three books on it along with the music and still lots of storage.
Recently read and loved Three Dog Life, a memoir of a woman whose husband was brain injured and how it changed their life.

I went to audible.com. I don't know why I was expecting it to be free. Sigh.
Any freebies out there?

P.S. Please don't tell me to go to the library. I forget that I have to
renew my books and I end up paying each time I am there. My husband (who now
handles our household finances) asked me to stop checking out books b/c we
end up paying so many fines. :-D
