Hey everyone, Have you looked at the study population and the purpose of the
study? The study was of 720 patients with Heterozygous Familial
Hypercholesterolemia. The end point was in changes of intima-media thickness
measured in three area of the carotid arteries. The American College of
Cardiology will be taking a further look at this study and I believe the
meeting is coming up in March. I have changed some meds if people have been
concerned, but really don't see much yet that scares me. This was a
relatively short study, over a two year period, in patients that had
extremely high LDL's related to their Heterozygous Familial
Hypercholesterolemia (LDL's baseline over 300). This is a high risk
population. I believe any news is news and we need to objectively look at
the study, pick it apart, and then watch for the experts opionions. I will
sit this one out for further information.

but reducing your risk of heart attack..does indeed reduce mortality
doesn't it??

They shouldn't have marketed it so aggressively if there was no proof it
could reduce morbidity or mortality.
