Your Price is right! I have been told they use the money to help screen for
abuse in the system, what a joke!
My employer pays for my renewal as well as any other expenses related to my
licensures, etc. that I need in order to practice. Between DEA fees and
recertification fees, I would hate to have to pay them out of my CE
allowance.

>Did I just get scammed?? Last time I renewed my DEA registration I thought
>it was outrageously expensive, but I remember it being 200 bucks or
>something like that. I just renewed today, and is it really $551??? Or
>did I get directed to some scam site? This much money every 3 years??
>This is the first time I did on-line renewal and was sent this thing in the
>mail encouraging me to use the on-line version. It came with a full page
>of "testimonials" about how easy and quick this was. It took me AN HOUR!!
>It kept telling me there was no match in their system for my number based
>on the info I was providing, but it doesn't tell you which information is
>the problem. I tried calling the "customer help line" and after the PHONE
>TREE FROM HELL was told that they were busy, "try back later".
>
>Sorry--I really needed to rant. Does anyone know what the DEA does with
>all of our money anyway? Do most of the rest of you pay out of pocket for
>your numbers or does your employer pick it up? (Mine comes out of my
>yearly CME allowance, which will really bite into mine this year).
