Stephanie,  small amounts of bio identical testosterone, estradiol,  
progesterone, and DHEA can be very helpful.  The key is looking at the  risks and 
making sure you are not creating side effects or additional  problems. Monitoring 
lab doing a saliva testosterone test over a full day  etc can be helpful.  
Using prescription Estradiol can be helpful also but  topical is better in 
bypassing the liver.  Premarin raises Estrone- E 1  which normally rises after 
menopause and is more apt to go down the 16 pathway  in metabolism and lead to 
increased risks of Breast CA - Clots etc.  It  also can create an imbalance of the 
estrogen- progesterone ratio which can be  more harmful and cause more of the 
symptoms of menopause than just be low on one  or the other.  Estradiol E 2 
is what binds to your SHBG and helps with  the symptoms of menopause.
