Going to be a square peg in a round hole:

       I currently read these periodicals:

Seven Seas Cruising Association Commodores' Bulletin
               Sail
               Cruising World
               Good Old Boat
               National Geographic

       I recently read these books

Drag Device Data Base 2nd Edition. (GREAT BOOK -- but only if you are going to sail a boat across an ocean -- database of recounted tales of how small sail and power boats survived storms at sea).
Sailing Grace by John Otterbacher (story of a man with inoperable coronary artery disease and his triumph of living through angina as his colaterals are developed and he refuses to die -- instead goes to sea with his two young daughters and fantastic partner wife. The chapters are Death, Life, The Sea. Perfect read for a sailor NP like me. Written pretty well, but not very well).
Total Loss. Accounts of small boats that were lost at sea and why they were lost.
Pirates Aboard! Steal. Rape. Plunder. Murder. Pilage. Only, frighteningly, it is all real. This book tells the story of small boat crews accosted by pirates, and what became of those crews. It discusses tactics for prevention, intervention, and survival. It argues for and against guns aboard a pleasure vessel, and about the value of going in a flotilla.
