From Elayne DeSimone, ANP, PhD, DAANP. Elayne is the President-Elect
of the ACC and an NP educaator and a great clinician. I know her for
a very long time and she cares about NPs and PAs.

Dave,
can you forward to whomever this list went to?
GREAT question Dave,
It is my understanding that only those DNP graduates who can document
that their residency time was spent in direct care as a nurse
practitioner would be granted opportunity to sit for this exam, which
is NOT, by the way intended to supplant the existing cert. exams
given by AANP, ANCC, NAPNAP etc. (we will also see how that plays out
in years to come). This exam as I understand it, is not available to
CNMs, etc - only NPs.
Additionally, those NPs who may be clinical experts, but who have NOT
graduated from a DNP program are NOT eligible. In my situation, 27
years of np practice, with a PhD does NOT qualify me for this new
exam, it doesn't matter that I teach DNP students.
