This is TOO MUCH.   They are about to awaken a giant they don't want to deal with.

So in states where the PA or NP needs a physician around, this would
preclude ALL of us from opening a clinic.
Interesting how totally paranoid these people are. Boy, they even
want to take the old American dream away from entrepreneurial NPs and
PAs. Shameful.
PAs have been owning clinics in NY for close to 40 years. NPs almost
as long.
If all of these rural PA and NP clinics have to close it is a great
argument for independent practice.

AMA Resolution Seeks Limits on PA and NP Clinic Ownership

June 13, 2008 5:18 PM by Stephen Cornell
The Ohio delegation to the AMA House of Delegates is seeking possible
limits on PAs' and NPs' abilities to own clinics and hire supervising
or collaborating physicians.
Whereas, Societal expectations inherent in a statutorily defined
physician duty to supervise physician extenders and thereby ensure
quality patient care are potentially compromised if the physician is
employed by the physician extender. The moral hazards of this
arrangement are amplified if the employment contract is responsible
for a significant proportion of the physician's income (> 15%) or if
remuneration is incentive based; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That our American Medical Association define the ethical
boundaries applicable to physicians supervising or collaborating with
physician extenders while concurrently employed by the physician
extender. (Directive to Take Action)
The AMA House of Delegates annual meeting begins June 14.
