Hi Ted and others, First, thank you for the FABULOUS ENT referral for my
daughter. We met with a Dr Lebovics and my daughter and I both loved him.
To make a short story long....she had been referred to someone in NYU. She
met him...he never looked her in the eye....asked her about "the nurse"
(practitioner...was lost on him) who referred her and ordered her CT. He
then wanted to schedule her surgery on the basis of the CT she brought with
her. He did not do an endoscopy. He did not take a good history. She told
me she was NEVER going back to him. (she is the new nurse)
Dr Lebovics listened to the history, did an endoscope,.....ordered a
hearing test ...as she c/o problems...referred her to an allergist....asked
me to have my radiologist and dentist comment on teeth in the maxillary
sinus' to determine if either of them thought the teeth were causing the
chronic sinusitis....and will have her return. She may very well need
surgery but he was not interested in doing it unless he ruled out any and
all other potential causes...HOW REFRESHING!!! He also asked how I was
referred....and expounded on how NPs/PAs/RNs were wonderful and his office
loves to work with and hire us. As I may have explained in prior posts.
I have a very large family. I am one of 7 children....have many nieces and
nephews. Although we have many nurses in the family, I am the only NP.
They all know about our lists and what a great source of info we have
here....Sooooo...
Now....onto my new question. I have a young adult female who has always had
very fine curly hair. Her parents have become concerned lately as they feel
she is losing more hair. As her hair is curly she doesnt appear to have a
problem to the rest of the family...but is noted to have lots of scalp
showing when she tilts her head ....They have started the derm consults
and testing. She had a scalp biopsy and was dx'd with non scarring alopecia
and advised to take po biotin and a mvi and to have 10 injections into the
scalp. I do not know the name of the med? any thoughts? comments?
advice?? specialists in the field? Ted...I wish you were nearby.....
As always I am extremely grateful to all of you folks.
Rose
