Subject: Re: [NPInfo] Nice article on NPs and PAs
Yes I agree about the article.
However CA NPs now know were CA Association of Physician Assistants
(CAPA) stands on our scope of practice bill AB1436 they opposed it along
with CMA and others, including the CA Nurses Association(CNA). However
with the CNA they said they would go along with it provided NPs and PAs
NOT work in unlicensed retail clinics. Anybody a member of CNA and can
you tell us or me what their thinking is placing a provision on the bill
that would not allow NPs and PAs to work retail clinics? As well as MDs.
Below is from public record
)Support if Amended. The California Nurses Association
(CNA) has taken a support if amended position on this
bill indicating that current provisions providing
additional requirements for nurse practitioners to obtain
a doctoral degree and obtain certification from a
nationally recognized certifying body may unnecessarily
limit the number of qualified advanced practice
registered nurses delivering health care to the growing
and aging population. CNA also points out that this bill
should be amended to restrict nurse practitioners,
physicians and physician assistants from practicing in
unlicensed retail clinics, which are set-up for
commercial convenience and not patient safety.
