I don't think so, I think it would be more costly to renew both, ANCC is very expensive.? I have a certification as a family nurse practitioner, but practice in cardiac surgery including recovery.? I hold both AANP, ANCC certifications for FNP.? I probably would not have taken both exams because even with both credentialing bodies, I have been told ANCC is more prestigious; however, both bodies offer credentialing thru reciprocity, so this is telling you that they are basically equivalent in terms of board certification.? Your situation is unique because I assume you have your ANP prior to FNP cert.? If it were me, I would cert FNP and drop ANP, because it will not affect your role at all.? Plus it is earned dollars that may be spent on other education or credentialing etc.?

Subject: [NPInfo] Need advice on multiple certifications
Hi All - I need some opinions/advice
I have two board certifications from ANCC - one as a Family NP and one as an
Adult NP. Its renewal time. My thoughts were to only renew the FNP. In my
practice, and in my state, there is no advantage to dual certifications, since
the scope of a FNP includes everything that a ANP would.
Other than having more initials behind my name, is there any real reason to
renew both?
Thanks in advance for your replies!
