Blue Cross/BS eventuallly has paid--after referring me to the Blue Card program a time or two. But I don't have a lot of experience with out of state billing. Most recently, a prescription I wrote could not be honored at a St. Louis prescription mail-order address--prior to that it had been honored by the same company when the mail-order company mailed from Arizona. Same patient, same company, same RX, just mailing from a different address of the same company. I love Missouri, but I could never live there due to their apparently archaic NP law. --Laura -----Original Message----- From: GAAdams at aol.com To: prvpracnp at nurse.net Sent: Tue, 23 Aug 2005 00:33:07 EDT Subject: Re: [PrvPracNP] Hello to the group Laura do you have problems with out of state BCBS that are processed in our state? But then again, I did have MD's in my office. AL is not an NP favored state, but MS is. Contact your local AANP rep. BTW, the Gulf Coast Coalition of NP's is in Mobile. Very active and proactive group. May be worth your while to get their feedback and support. Members are composed from AL, FL and MS. Hopes this helps....Let us know. Thanks for sharing. NP's in Derm in CT have been doing this for awhile. They have also been doing biopsies and referring clients to Derm MD's with the results. I practiced for a year in Derm and it was very rewarding. Sent one patient up to Boston as she was a very young woman with Melanoma covering the entire plantar surface of her heel. Last I heard, they got it all and she was experiencing a good recovery. Other NP's in the Derm market in CT are hiring cosmetologists to do the facials, etc. Very lucrative and a fun practice milieu.
