Good Morning Grace,
You know, we hear so much.I think most of it must be hearsay. That said.I
don't think it's illegal. I think this stems from the stuff I've heard about
not undercutting insurance companies, as they may turn around and undercut
you. The way it was explained to me was that if the insurance companies
think they you are charging less to see people, then why are you charging
them more and they will reduce your allowable. I have no idea if this is
true or not.
Now.I do understand that you NEVER want to charge less than the Medicare
rates.I do think there is something in the contracts about that.otherwise we
might be seen as "gouging" our government.
Gail..all bets are off if you are a FQHC.I think the rules there are totally
different than just plain ole private office.
I'd welcome a discussion with everyone on this list about fees and how
everyone came to their fee structure. Seems there are dozens of ways of
doing it, and I'm not sure what's correct [if anything].
BTW, I left you a message at your clinic number on Sunday. Hope to connect
with you soon.

I was told today that it is illegal to advertise that a clinic offers a
reduced fee to non insured patients if you accept insured patients also. Has
anyone else heard of this rule?
