NP - Inpatient Consults (GI)

Position Summary (full-time 40 hrs/wk)
This is a full-time (100%) position in the Gastroenterology Division 
of the Department of
Medicine. The immediate supervisor is Division Director, Dr. John Lake.

The primary responsibility of this individual will be to support the 
in-patient GI consultation
service. This support will consist of activities relative to 
performing initial and follow-up
in-patient consults for patients with GI and liver diseases. He/She 
will work closely with the
in-patient consult attending and GI Consult fellows. He/she will also 
be responsible for
coordination of in-patient consults and procedures at UMMC, including 
at the Riverside
Campus.

In addition, the individual will see follow-up patients in the 
out-patient Gastroenterology Clinic,
as time Permits.

There will be no night call or weekend responsibility. The individual 
will work with the other GI
nurse to provide appropriate cross coverage, as required.

Job Qualifications
* Master's Degree in nursing and completion of a formal nurse 
practitioner program
* Current MN RN license, Approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board 
of Nursing for
prescription writing privileges.
* Certified through ANA or eligible for ANA national. Exam.
* Meets threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileging.
* 3 months to 1 year of nursing experience in nursing. New NP 
graduates welcome.
* Participates in clinic/organizational and divisional committees / 
meetings as requested.
* Computer and keyboarding skills.
* Demonstrated leadership, teaching, evaluation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
* M.S. preferred
* One to 3 years of nursing experience in specialty area.
