We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant 
(NP/PA)
Supervisor who will assure that issues affecting clinical practice, NP/PA
performance, quality of care and patient satisfaction are appropriately 
managed.
This is an excellent opportunity for the nurse practitioner who is on the
administration/management track and enjoys using his/her administrative 
skills
and personnel management experience in a supportive and dynamic health
services organization. In conjunction with an active clinical practice, 
the NP/PA
Supervisor will assume responsibility for supervising primary care 
NP/PA’s (career
and per diem), participate in the Clinical Services Management Team, 
assume a
leadership role in assuring quality and consistency of care in the 
primary care
clinics, and assume a lead role in assuring NP/PA practice adheres to 
operational
and regulatory policies. This position reports to the Clinical Services 
Director and
is responsible for the following areas:

* Supervises career and per diem NPs/PAs in the Primary Care and Urgent 
Care
Clinics, including recruitment, hiring, credentialing, privileging, 
orientation,
proctoring, performance appraisal, and peer review.
* Develops NP/PA staffing plans for academic year and reduced service 
periods.
* Shares with the Clinical Services Management Team the responsibility of
evaluating and responding to client comments about the medical and systems
components of visits to UHS.
* Assures compliance with all regulatory agencies and governing bodies.
* Participates in developing, implementing, administering, and 
evaluating the
organizational and clinical programs by providing analysis, solving 
problems, and
identifying policy issues.
* Assists the clinical leadership in addressing service-wide issues 
relating to
quality of patient care.
* Assumes a lead clinical role in development and implementation of 
electronic
medical record systems.
* May be involved in integrating work with other areas of the Health 
Services.
* Maintains an active clinical practice, incorporating all the job 
responsibilities of the
Nurse Practitioner II.
* Functions as a resource for consultation on complex or difficult 
patient cases.

Requirements:
* Be a graduate of an accredited nursing and nurse practitioner program, 
and in
possession of the legal requirements for the practice of a Nurse 
Practitioner in
California and certification as an Adult/Family Practice Nurse 
Practitioner.
* Have current California RN license, ability to furnish DEA license 
number, basic
CPR certification, and ACLS certification.
* Have 5 or more years of continuous and recent experience as a 
Certified Adult/
Family Nurse Practitioner in a high volume, outpatient setting with 
experience
including college health and/or a young adult focus.
* Have 3 or more years of experience supervising nurse 
practitioners/physician
assistants and/or nurses.
* Possess highly advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities associated 
with the
practice of medicine and management experience of primary care clinical 
units
and personnel.
* Advanced communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a 
highly
collaborative manner with contacts of significance, both internally and 
externally
and at all levels.
* Proven ability to effectively manage HR and fiscal resources
* Proficiency in word processing, e-mail, and Internet.
* Demonstrated experience with electronic medical records systems.
