*Job Title:* Nurse Practitioner
*Supervisor:* Clinic Director
*Location:* Medical Clinic
*Designation:* Tribal

*This position is responsible for* providing comprehensive medical, 
preventive and
therapeutic health care services for the Stillaguamish Tribal Community. 
The position is for a
Family Nurse Practitioner who delivers primary care in a clinic-centered 
approach with home
visits and community outreach. The FNP must be self-directed in 
providing this health care
service and needs to function independently.

*_SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:_*
1. Manages the overall medical needs of patients. Assesses health status 
and health
practices of individuals and families through health histories, 
observation, and physical
examinations. Identifies health needs; develops and implements health 
care treatment plans
with periodic follow-up.
2. Prescribes specific drugs and treatment for common health problems.
3. Orders and performs laboratory tests and evaluates results. Orders 
other laboratory/
diagnostic procedures and interprets results.
4. Establishes and maintains patient medical records and charts, 
ensuring compliance with
Indian Health Service directives; HIPAA compliance expected.
5. Establishes and maintains a network of collaborative relationships 
with private physicians,
IHS, and health service providers.
6. Provides referrals to local providers when services are not available 
at the clinic.
7. Duties would include scheduling the workload, assuring the adequacy 
of supplies,
maintaining clinic procedures, coordinating medical services, planning 
and evaluating clinic
services and implementing necessary care.
8. Provides home visits as needed.
9. Implements community wellness programs and functions as nurse 
consultant for tribal
programs.
10. Must be able to travel independently within various locations of the 
tribal community.

*QUALIFICATIONS:*
1. Current license as a Family Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive 
authority and ANA Board
Certification as FNP
2. Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment UA.
3. WA state Driver License and ability to be approved by Tribal 
insurance to drive Tribal vehicles.

*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:*
1. Knowledge of professional medical theory and practices.
2. Ability to apply medical techniques to patient care in field and 
clinic situations.
3. Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with other 
employees.
4. Ability to maintain complete casework confidentiality.
5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with 
clients, health resources
staff, IHS, etc.
6. Culture: Must have cultural sensitivity and be able to incorporate 
Native American
community values in the health care process.

*HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT*
Basic hours of work are 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday, or as 
modified based on
specific needs of the clinic.
