TITLE: Nurse Practitioner
STATUS: 32 hours per week
LOCATION: Arlington, WA
Grade: DOE
REPORTS TO: Health Director
DATE: 3/18/15 Open Until Filled

The Nurse Practitioner evaluates, plans, and provides comprehensive 
patients care
independently or in autonomous collaboration with other health care and 
addiction treatment
professionals. The ARNP provides comprehensive health assessment, 
medical diagnosis of
acute and chronic illness, writes prescription and formulates a 
treatment plan with an
emphasis on health promotion, addiction medicine, disease prevention, 
and disease
management.

Provide or coordinate comprehensive, high quality services that address 
the full spectrum of
needs: treatment, education and medical care to Individuals within the 
Island Crossing
Counseling Service Program.

*PROGRAM SUMMARY*
Island Crossing Counseling Services (ICCS) provides integrated substance 
abuse, mental
health, and medical services.

Services offered at ICCS are: Screening/Intake, Orientation to 
Treatment, Patient Education,
Initial Assessment, Initial Treatment Planning and Periodic Reviews, 
Methadone Maintenance
and Medically Supervised Withdrawal Treatment, Counseling Services Case 
Management and
Referral, Follow-Up and Discharge Planning. Day to day scheduling and 
work is self-directed
with the incumbent having considerable independence and latitude in 
providing the health care
functions.

1. Based on assessment, diagnose patient needs and determine a plan of 
care. Interpret
patient care tests and exams to obtain needed information to guide care.
2. Educating and guiding patients on disease prevention and healthy 
lifestyle habits
3. Understanding the changes in health promotion throughout the aging 
process
4. Performing diagnostic tests and screening evaluations
5. Managing overall patient care regarding lifestyle and development issues
6. Emphasizing preventative care and disease management
7. Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
8. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
9. Maintains and reviews patient's records, charts, and other pertinent 
information. Posts test
and examination results. 10. Appropriate and timely documentation of 
clinical care.
11. Code and bill accurately per established protocol and procedure. 
Ensure that records are
detailed and complete, and comply with related standards and regulations.
12. Coordinates and collaborates patient care efforts with other care 
providers.
13. Communicates clinical information timely, accurately, thoroughly and 
appropriately to other
providers of patient care.

*ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS*
1. Knowledge of professional Medical theory and practices.
2. Ability to apply medical techniques to patient care in clinic 
situations.
3. Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with other 
employees.
4. Ability to maintain complete casework confidentiality.
5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with 
clients, contractors, health
resource, program staff, etc.
6. Working knowledge of addiction treatment and addiction medicine.

Culture: Must have cultural sensitivity and be able to incorporate 
Native American community
values in the health care process.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None

*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
1. Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
2. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (Credentialing requirement).
3. Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
4. Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment UA
5. WA state Driver's license and ability to be approved by Tribal 
insurance to drive Tribal vehicles.
