*Job Summary*
Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Advanced Registered
Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care to patients of Summit
Pacific Medical Center (SPMC) Primary Care Providers within the scope of
the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Licensure in Washington State.
*Job Duties and Responsibilities*
1. Provides comprehensive advanced practice nursing care for Primary
Care patients in an ambulatory environment. Performs evaluations,
discusses goals with patients, implements care plans, prescribes
medications, educates patients about risks and benefits, and monitors
progress. Works closely with other members of patient care team in the
formulation of the total care plan for patients.
2. Identifies, evaluates and addresses disease prevention and health
promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering
quality patient care. Rounds on patients in order to determine needs.
Reviews patient charts to ensure that co-morbidities are appropriately
documented. Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to
the overall function of this position.
3. Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients.
Performs complete physical exam and records findings during the
pre-admission stage.
4. Meets or exceeds quality care standards, achieves clinical
excellence, contributes to quality improvement, and strives for high
patient satisfaction. Independently plans work and develops procedures
to accomplish goals. Participates actively in the quality improvement
system, complies with all appropriate Washington State Department of
Health standards, National Patient Safety goals, and other quality
improvement projects.
5. Maintains appropriate, accurate and timely records using a
computerized record keeping and coding system.
6. Works closely with other departments in patient care as needed.
7. Assists physicians in the development of clinical protocols, and
conducting nursing assessments to identify patient problem; implements a
plan of action to facilitate problem resolution; charts actions
appropriately.
8. Maintains professional skills through research and
training/continuing education opportunities. Participates in
interdisciplinary meetings; stays abreast of trends and best practices;
develops and implements new and revised methods, practices, policies,
techniques and procedures. Ensures compliance with all regulatory
requirements and federal, state and local laws.
9. Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
*Organizational Responsibilities*
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, all
employees are expected to support the Summit Pacific Medical Center
mission, vision and values; comply with SPMC policies and procedures;
and conduct themselves in an ethical, professional, respectful, and
collaborative manner at all times.
*Required Education and Experience*
* Masters degree in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice
* A minimum of three (3) years of experience as an ARNP.
*Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations*
* Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Advanced
Registered Nurse Practitioner
* Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Registered Nurse
* National certification as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
* DEA certification
* Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
*Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities*
1. Ability to effectively apply nursing theories and concepts to problem
solve, approach complex behavioral health decision making and impact
practice.
2. Ability to diagnose, develop treatment plans, and treat patients
across a broad spectrum of medical diagnosis. Knowledge and application
of pharmacotherapy.
3. Proficient in the use of current technology and computers; ability to
learn and effectively use new programs and equipment.
4. Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to
the audience.
5. Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration
with providers, other health care professionals, managers, and patients.
6. Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation and records.
7. Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of duties
that require the use of independent judgment, advanced problem-solving,
critical thinking, organization, and prioritization skills.
