The Department of Pediatrics at The University of Texas Health 
Science Center at San Antonio is
recruiting for a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join 
the Pediatric Pulmonary Division.
The faculty appointment will be at the instructor level. The division 
is currently comprised of two
fulltime pulmonologists and two nurse practitioners. Members of the 
division run a pediatric
sleep center; a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation accredited Cystic Fibrosis 
Center, and are involved in
the evaluation and treatment of children with complex chest and 
spinal deformities at the
Thoracic Institute at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. They 
routinely treat children
with asthma, chronic lung disease, sickle cell disease, congenital 
heart disease, and those with
tracheostomies and who require ventilatory support. Additionally, 
they provide inpatient
consultative and bronchoscopic services to University Hospital and 
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa
Children's Hospital and receive outpatient referrals from all over 
South Texas. The pulmonary
clinic staff includes a full time RN, RMA and RRT and there is a 
fully equipped pulmonary
function lab. Members of the division are involved in the teaching of 
medical students and
pediatric residents from the UTHSCSA.

Prior experience in pediatric pulmonary medicine is not necessary. 
Members of the division
will provide training related to the assessment and care of patients 
with pulmonary diseases.
Ultimately, the candidate will be expected to staff their own clinics 
and assist with inpatient
coverage with pulmonary attending backup. Opportunities to become 
involved in clinical
research and to become a certified asthma educator are available. All 
Faculty appointments
